Not Operating Properly or Keeping Temperature

My Refrigerator wont seem to run?

First of all you may want to check the temperature control, make sure that it's turned on. AN obvious but often overlooked mistake is to check the power power cable is switch on and live. It may even be worth checking the circuit breaker, is possible reset it. Check the fuse aswell. If you have checked these then it could very well be that your American Fridge Freezer is in the middle of an automatic defrost. Failing that consult your manufacturer service provider for more assistance.

Should warm air be coming out of my fridge?

Don't worry this is completely normal. Normally you will find most units have warm air coming out the bottom, this is the way that they operate.

Its to warm inside my Side by Side?

This can happen if your kids or partner have been holding the door open for too long most of the time. This will make your refrigerator use more energy, and in the long run cost you more on your fuel bill, try and get out of the habit of doing this. Alternatively check the temperature control to make sure is hasn't been raised to a warmer setting by mistake.

The Exterior of my Side by Side Feels warm?

This is perfectly normal. When the humidity it high it does this to prevent condensation from forming.

Can I check temperaure accurately?

Many modern Fridge Freezers should have an indicator, usually in the form of an LED Display which should tell you the current temperature inside. If for any reason you wish to investigate further t double check you can place a thermostat in liquid in a jar for the fresh food section, fridge. Make sure you give it enough time to adjust to the true temperature.

For the freezer section you can place a thermostat inside an item that doesn't freeze solid in there, again allowing time for the true temperature to adjust.

The lower food compartment is freezing, why?

This can be down to cooled air moving from the freezer section to the fridge section when the refrigerator isn't running. When air isn't being circulated, via the twin cooling systems for example warm air will rise and the cold air will fall.

My Refrigerator Is Noisy/Vibrates

Why is my refrigerator so loud?

One reason may be due to your Side by Side may not be level. You should be instructed by your user guide on how to level it. Secondly your floor may not be strong enough and you could consider placing it else where or reinforcing your floor.

If its non of these reason its best to contact the supplier.

My Refrigerator makes a sizzling sound, why?

This does appear a strange noise for a fridge freezer, but is is a normal sound for an appliance such as this. It's caused by defrost water dripping on the defrost mechanis on some models.

Why does it click during the De-frost Cycle?

You will usually get a defrost timer on frost-free Side by Side Refrigerators. It does this when it cycles the unit in and out of defrost cycle.

My Dispenser/Ice Maker Queries

Why isn't the automatic icemaker working?

First it may be worth checking the stop arm. On some models that have these, such as the Maytag, you will find it should be down. Next you may want to check that the water supply is turned on, also check the water pressure. Finally make sure that your freezer is cold enough for the icemaker to work properly, you could adjust the freezer control to a colder setting.

Why isn't the water dispenser on my side-by-side refrigerator working?

First thing to do is the most obvious, check that the water supply is turned on and the water pressure is OK. Finally if your Side by Side Fridge Freezer has a lock switch, make sure it isn't turned to the OFF position.

How Soon after connectin can I make ice?

It may take up to 12 hours before you can extract ice out of the icemaker. The ice maker will not fill with water until the freezer is cooled to the optimal temperature of 0° F.Please note that the first two or three batches of ice cubes may be in an unexpected shape and colour or could contain impurities from the new water supply piping. We advise that you throw away the first batches of ice.

My Refrigerator has a leak

Its possible the tubing may have a hole or a crack. Tighten any connections to the water valves, use Teflon tape around the thread connections if required. If this doesn't stop the leaking then contact your service provider.

There's a leak underneath my refrigerator. What Coulld be wrong?

There's a couple of things you could do here, first check your tubing is tight and isn't cracked. Then check to see if your drain pan is in place (if your refrigerator has one). Alternatively contact your service provider.

Why's there a leak inside my fridge freezer?

Make sure first of all that the door closes and is sealed properly. Next check the fill tube used on the ice maker is fitted properly and isn't making a splash. Your water pressure should be at a minimum of 20psi. If none of these steps corrects the leak and you discover the water is coming from the fresh food sealing, you'll probably need to have the defrost pan checked.

My Fridge Doors Aren't Sealing/Level

My Refrigerator Doors are uneve, help?

You should be able to get round this, by loosening the screws on the hinge or at least on most Side by Sides anyhow. They can sometimes become levelled during installation causing the doors to be misaligned.

Can I fix it so the doors shut automatically?

On some Models of Side by Side Fridge Freezers you will find that this is a child safety feature so it doesn't close automatically.

Why is there mositure on the walls of my refrigerator?

When the weather is exceptionally hot and humid this can sometimes happen. It can also happen when the door is opened to frequently or for to long. Close the door and the moisture should go away in a few hours, especially with the American Refrigerators that use the latest in cooling technology, such as multi flow.

How can I keep food from drying out in my refrigerator or freezer?

The best way to combat this is to wrap your food. Make sure any drawers you keep your food in are tightly closed, by failing to do this you will be letting out moisture. Also don't set the temperature control to cold.

Lights and Shelving Issues

The bulb may have gone, that's the most common reason. If you need to change a light bulb, always unplug the refrigerator and use an appliance bulb of the same wattage.

Replacing the light Bulb Cover?

Covers on most models have clips that need to be squeezed in order to remove the cover.
